When something is ineluctable, you cannot get away from it, however hard you struggle. People use it for results and facts that will happen whether you like them or not — death, change, a war already started, a number that will not move. It is a , rather heavy word; you meet it in essays and serious writing, not at the dinner table. In ordinary talk people say or you can't escape it. Though actually those everyday words feel a little softer: you can sometimes put off what is only “.” Ineluctable has the feel of a net — kicking will not open it.
