If something is ineffective, it does not do the job it is meant to do. A medicine can be ineffective if you still feel ill. A rule, a plan, a warning, or a teaching method can be ineffective if nothing really changes. You can also call a person ineffective in a role — a leader, a teacher, a team — when their work does not bring the result people wanted. It is a clear, slightly formal critic's word, common in news, school, and offices. It is not the same as : means it works, but slowly or with waste; ineffective means it basically fails. And it is a little cooler than , which often paints a person as weak or lacking force, not just a method that missed.
