You almost always meet this word inside the phrase “not inconsiderable.” That “not” is doing the real work. A not inconsiderable amount of money is quite a lot of money. A not inconsiderable achievement is actually rather important. Formal writers like this shape because it sounds careful, not : they make something sound large by first pretending it might be small. You will see it in news, reports, and serious books, almost never in a chat between friends. Though actually, inconsiderable by itself would mean “small, not worth counting” — but people almost never use it that way now. If you drop the “not,” you have flipped the meaning. Keep the two words together.
