News uses it about prisoners: held incommunicado, meaning no visitors, no calls. Friends also use it lightly: “I was incommunicado all weekend” = phone off, cabin in the mountains, inbox ignored. The light use is real, but the core picture is serious: cut off from contact, not merely shy. Though actually, it does not mean you cannot speak the language; it means the channel is closed. English spells it with two m’s because we lined it up with communicate; the Spanish original, incomunicado, has one.
