In-your-face behaviour is hard to miss on purpose. It pushes itself at you: loud, bold, and often meant to shock or upset. Ads, clothes, music, and people can all be in-your-face. Sometimes the speaker half-admires the nerve — “at least it is honest” — and sometimes they mean it as a complaint: too much, too sharp, no manners. It is informal, a little , and can sound rude if you use it about a person who is in the room. Though actually it is not only “angry.” A bright pink poster can be in-your-face without anyone shouting. Use the when it sits before a noun: in-your-face style. As a shout on its own, “In your face!” is a different, ruder after you beat someone.
