Improvisation means creating or doing something in the moment, without planning it ahead of time, using whatever is available right then. Musicians improvise solos, actors improvise lines in comedy shows, cooks improvise a meal from whatever is in the fridge, and ordinary people improvise solutions when something goes wrong and there's no time to plan.
