IMAX is a special way of showing a film. The screen is huge — much bigger than a normal cinema — and often a bit curved, so it fills more of what you can see. You sit rather close, and the picture is very sharp, so the film can feel like it is happening around you, not just in front of you. The sound is huge too. Though actually, IMAX began as a company name, a brand, and people now use it for that kind of giant-screen cinema. Not every room with the IMAX logo is the same size: some are true giant rooms, and some are smaller rooms that still use the name. You will see it written in capital letters on tickets and posters. People say it when they want the big, almost-real film night.
