If something is ill-suited to a purpose, it does not fit that job well — the tool, the person, the room, or the plan is the wrong kind of thing. are ill-suited to a mountain trail; a tiny room is ill-suited to a drum lesson. The usual pattern is “ill-suited to” (or “for”) something. It is a little formal; day to day, people say “not right for” or “not a good fit.” Though actually, it is about match, not about clothes, even though “suit” makes you think of a jacket. You can use it for people and for things. It does not mean the person is a bad person — only that this role, place, or task sits badly on them.
