- 1子宮切除術
A hysterectomy is an operation in which a doctor removes a woman’s (the womb — the part where a baby can grow). After it, she cannot carry a pregnancy. Doctors may suggest it for very heavy bleeding, large growths, serious pain, or some cancers. It is a hospital operation, not a small clinic visit, and recovery takes time. There is more than one kind: sometimes only the comes out; sometimes the doctor also removes the cervix or nearby parts. Though actually, taking out the is not the same as taking out the ovaries; those are different operations, even if they can happen on the same day. You will hear this word from doctors, in health news, and in family medical talk. It is not a casual word.
組成From hyster- + -ectomy. hyster- means the uterus (womb); -ectomy means a cutting out — an operation that takes a body part away.
