Houmous is a thick, pale food paste made from , usually mixed with paste, lemon, garlic and oil. People eat it with bread — often pita — or with raw vegetables. Houmous is simply another spelling of hummus: the British spelling you see on supermarket tubs in the UK. The extra o does not change the food or the sound much. Though actually, it sits close to humus (one m, no o), which is the dark, rich part of soil. That is a different word. Houmous is always the dip.
