A rude word. In the most literal sense it is horse poo, but people almost always use it to mean nonsense — “that is not true” or “that is stupid talk.” You can use it as a noun (that story is horseshit) or throw it out by itself when you do not believe someone. It is coarse and angry. Do not use it with teachers, in exams, or with people you have just met. Though actually, when someone says it, they almost never mean real dung. They mean the talk is worthless.
