    Horned means an animal — or a picture, a helmet, a moon — has horns, or has a shape that looks like horns. A horned owl has little on its head that look like horns, though they are only feathers. A horned animal like a goat or a cow has the real thing. You can also hear it in old stories: a horned god, a horned helmet. It is a quiet, slightly old-fashioned adjective; in everyday talk people more often say “with horns” or just name the animal.

組成From Old English hyrned / ġehyrned (“having horns”), from the noun horn + -ed. The same idea shows up in Dutch gehoornd, German gehörnt, Danish hornede.
