A homebuyer is someone who is buying a home — a house or a flat — not someone who already owns one, and not someone who is only renting. You meet the word in news, banks, and housing talk: first-time homebuyers, help for homebuyers, the homebuyer market. It is a straight, slightly official compound, not slang. People use it when the buying itself is the point: the loan, the price, the government scheme. In ordinary chat you might just say someone is buying a house; homebuyer packs that into one noun. It is about a person buying a place to live, not a company buying an office, and not a buying things for the house. The person who already owns the place is a homeowner; that is a different stage.
