    Hither means here — or, more tightly, to this place. Come hither is come here, but with old clothes on. You will meet it in stories, songs, and jokes that want an old or fairy-tale sound, not in a text to your friend. There is a pair: hither, to here, and , to there. People still say hither and to mean all over the place, moving this way and that. As a describing word, the hither side means the side nearer to us — very .
