Hilton is a famous hotel brand, named after Conrad Hilton, the American who started the company. When people say “the Hilton,” they usually mean a large, expensive Hilton hotel in a city, not a small family . Many big cities around the world have one, and London has a well-known Hilton next to Hyde Park. In speech it works like a proper name: you stay at the Hilton, you book the Hilton. Though actually, people sometimes stretch it, the way they stretch “the ,” to mean any hotel — but that is loose talk, not the real name. Write it with a capital H; it is not a generic English word for “expensive hotel.”
組成A name from English and Scottish place-names. Often Old English hyll (“hill”) + tun (“settlement”); sometimes the first part is read as hield (“slope”) or helde (“tansy”). Another line is Norman Hildun, from Old English hild (“battle”) + húnn (“bear cub”). Conrad Hilton’s family name comes from that place-name tradition; the hotels are named after him.
