A hillock is a little hill — a small rise in the ground, not high, and not a mountain. You might walk up it in a few minutes. It is a slightly old or literary word; in everyday talk people often just say a small hill, a rise, or a mound. You still meet it in descriptions of the countryside, in older books, and in some place names and family names. It names the landform, not a person.

組成From Middle English hillok, equivalent to hill + -ock. The old ending -ock means “small.”
