    Herewith means “with this letter” or “with this document.” You send something, and herewith tells the reader that the other thing is travelling with the same paper: a copy, a form, a , a photo. It belongs to business letters and official mail. Typical lines are please find herewith or I send herewith a copy. It is polite and stiff. In an email today, people more often write I have attached… or please find attached…, which does the same job in plainer clothes. You would not say herewith across a desk. The “this” it points to is the letter itself, not a person or a place.
