Heart-stopping means so or so that it feels as if your heart has paused. A heart-stopping moment is one that makes you hold your breath — a near crash, a last-second goal, a sudden silence. Though actually, writers also stretch it toward beauty: a heart-stopping view, meaning it hits you that hard. It is a feeling word, a bit dramatic, at home in news and stories. It does not mean your heart has really stopped, and it is not a doctor’s word.
驚心動魄的、緊張到心臟彷彿停拍的
