The headliner is the main performer or band at a concert — the name in the biggest letters, the act most people bought a ticket to see. People also say a star headlines a festival (that is the verb). It is show business talk, informal-to-neutral, and you will hear it on posters and in music news. The word comes from headline: the person who is “in the headlines” of the bill. Though actually, a car also has a headliner — the cloth on the inside of the roof — but that is a different build of the word (head + liner), not the singer. If you are talking about a show, you mean the star, not the ceiling.
