To headbutt someone is to hit them on purpose with your forehead. It is also a noun: a headbutt. People do it in fights, and sometimes by accident when two people move too close. In football it is against the rules and can get you sent off. Animals such as goats headbutt too, with the hard front of the head. The word is informal to plain; news reports of a fight still use it. Though actually, the butt here is not the body part you sit on. It is an old verb meaning to strike with the head, the way a goat does. A headbutt can really hurt someone — it is not a cartoon bump.
