Headbanging is shaking your head hard, up and down, to loud rock or metal music. It is also the -ing form of the verb: they are headbanging. As a noun you can say headbanging is part of the show. It is informal. At a concert it looks wild and happy; done for a long time it can leave your neck sore — though actually, that is the usual price, not a prize. People sometimes use it as a joke for any big, silly nodding along to a song. The person who loves this music and does this is a ; headbanging is the action, not the person. It is not a headbutt.
