1. 1

If someone is hawk-eyed, they notice small things very quickly — a wrong number, a face in a crowd, a tiny change on a page. The picture is a hawk, a hunting bird with very sharp sight. It is a compliment, a little colourful, more at home in stories and news than in a science report. You can say a hawk-eyed teacher or a hawk-eyed security guard. It is about seeing and noticing, not about being fierce, angry, or ready to attack.
