Hashish is a strong drug that comes from the cannabis plant. It is not the dried leaves and flowers that people call marijuana or weed. It is the sticky resin of the plant, gathered and pressed into a brown or dark lump, so the same chemicals sit much more tightly together. dictionaries often call it the strongest form of cannabis; that was a fair picture for a long time, though actually some modern concentrates can be stronger still. When someone says hashish, they mean this traditional resin. News and law tend to use the full word; in loose talk people often it to hash. In Taiwan this is an illegal drug. You may meet the word in the news, in a health lesson, or in a crime report — not as something to try.
