Hamilton, in this sense, is the capital city of Bermuda, and also its main port. It sits on Bermuda Island, the main island of that small British overseas territory in the Atlantic. It is a small capital by world standards — more a tidy harbour town than a huge city — but it is where the ships come in, and where the island’s government sits. In English it is a place name, always capitalised. Though actually, the same spelling is used for many other things (a Scottish surname, other towns, a famous American on the US ten-dollar bill, a musical), so if someone says Hamilton with no extra word, you have to listen for the place they mean. Here the filing is only the Bermudian city.
組成The place-name goes back to Old English *Hameldūne: hamel (‘blunt, flat-topped’) + dūne (‘hill’). The Scottish surname Hamilton comes from a place of that name in Leicestershire, England; it is the same name-family, not a separate invention.
