    Haggling is the back-and-forth talk you do when you want a lower price and the seller wants a higher one. You are arguing about money, not about feelings. It belongs in markets, night markets, used-car lots, and sometimes house sales — places where the first number is only a starting point. In a supermarket with a printed tag, you usually cannot ; the price is fixed. The word is informal to everyday. People do stretch it a little: “haggling over the details” can mean pushing and pulling about small points in a plan, not only cash, though the home meaning is still price.
