    Gunpoint almost never lives as a free, lonely noun. The living phrase is at gunpoint: while a gun is pointed at someone, so they do what they are told because they are afraid of being shot. A robbery, a hijack, or a may happen at gunpoint. News English can put either person in the picture — the one in danger, or the one forcing the other. Point here is the tip of the gun, the muzzle aimed at the body. It is a crime-and-news word, serious, not playful. You do not stretch it into everyday “pointing” (a finger, a pencil). The shape of the phrase is frozen: at gunpoint, not in or on.
