Guangzhou is a huge city in southern China, on the Pearl River, in Guangdong province, not far from Hong Kong. For a long time English speakers called it Canton, and that old name is still hiding in everyday words: Cantonese for the language and the food, and the Canton Fair. Canton and Guangzhou are the same city, not neighbours.
