Grimm is a German family name, and in English it almost always points to two brothers: Jakob Grimm (1785–1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786–1859). People say the Brothers Grimm. They were language scholars, and they worked on a huge German dictionary, but children — and film studios — know them for Grimm's Fairy Tales, a collection of nearly two hundred old stories they wrote down, still loved today, such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Hansel and Gretel. Though actually, their paper versions are often darker and stranger than the soft cartoon retellings. The name is borrowed from German Grimm. It is a name, with a capital G. It is not the English adjective grim, even though some of the stories can feel grim.
