    In a game on the internet, a griefer is the player who deliberately other people, or does things that spoil the game for them: breaking a house, blocking a door, killing their own team, sitting in the way. The point is not to win. The point is to make you suffer. The activity is griefing; the person who does it is the griefer. The word grew in the early 2000s from grief plus -er. It is gamer slang, informal, a little angry. Though actually, it does not mean a person who feels grief — that trap is sitting right in the spelling. Outside games, people almost never use it.
