Grenada is a small country in the Caribbean Sea: one main island, also called Grenada, plus some smaller islands called the Grenadines. The capital is St. George's. English is used there, and the country belongs to the British Commonwealth — countries with an old tie to Britain. Only about 110,000 people live there, so it is much smaller than Taiwan. In 1983, United States soldiers went in after some of Grenada's own army had taken power by force; the US said they were putting the earlier government back. People still argue about that war, but you will meet the name in news and history. Do not mix it up with Granada, a city in Spain, or with a grenade, the small bomb. The names grew from the same old word, but they name different things.
