Granola is a breakfast food made from mixed grains (often ), nuts, and seeds, usually baked with something sweet like honey so it sticks in small lumps. People eat it with milk or yogurt, or by the handful on a walk. It feels American and a bit healthy, though actually a lot of granola has quite a lot of sugar. It is not the same as , which is often raw flakes mixed with dried fruit and not baked into clumps. The name began as a brand in the 1800s, then came back in the 1960s; now it is just the general word for that food.

組成Once a brand name, Granola, registered in 1886 by Will Keith Kellogg. It was first called Granula, then renamed Granola to avoid legal trouble with James Caleb Jackson, who had a similar cereal in 1863 also called Granula, after the little granules of Graham flour in it. The food and name came back in the 1960s. By 1967 it is in American English, probably from Italian grano (grain) or granular plus the selling ending -ola.
