    The Grail (usually "the Holy Grail") is the legendary cup that Jesus is said to have used at the Last Supper — in old stories, knights spend their whole lives searching for it. Today, people use "the holy grail of ___" for the one ultimate, hardest-to-reach goal in a field — "a cure for cancer is the holy grail of medical research."
