Godhead is a church word. Christians use it for God as one, even while they speak of three: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They do not mean three gods. They mean one God in three persons — and “the Godhead” is a way of naming that whole divine being, the “God-ness” of God. You will meet it in sermons, hymns, and theology books, often with a capital G. It is not a casual name, like calling someone “God” in daily chat, and it is not a person’s family name. Ordinary conversation almost never needs it; people just say God. Though actually, the ending is an old piece meaning “the state of being,” the same idea as -hood in words like childhood. So Godhead is, piece by piece, “the state of being God.” There is also a lowercase godhead with the same history. For , the useful sense is the Christian one: the one God who is Father, Son, and Spirit together.
