A God-fearing person tries to live a good, honest life and follow the rules of the Christian religion. Here fearing does not mean they jump in ; it means they have deep respect for God and care about doing right. The phrase is a little old-fashioned and often used with respect — people say a God-fearing family to mean serious about faith and morals. It is not an insult.
組成From God + fearing, likely a continuation of Middle English goddfrihti / gode-frigti, from Old English godfyrht, godefriht (“god-fearing”). Cognate with Gothic gudafaurhts (“god-fearing, devout”).
