1. 1

Glocal means both worldwide and close to home at the same time. People use it for businesses, problems, and ideas that live on two levels at once: a company may sell the same kind of thing all over the world, but change the taste, the name, or the ads so they feel local. A problem can be glocal too — the climate is global, but the flood is in your street, and the two are tied together. It is a fairly new, slightly fancy word. You will meet it in business class, brand news, and serious articles; you will not hear it at the night market. Though actually, the idea is simple: the world is one place now, but people still live in a town, and both layers matter.
