    A globule is a small drop of a liquid, or of something that has melted and then sits as a tiny round bit — fat in soup, oil in water, wax. It is a quieter, more precise word than : doctors, cooks, and science teachers use it; in everyday talk people usually say drop or blob. You may also hear fat globules in milk. Though actually, the word is just “little globe”: Latin globus meant a ball, and globulus was a small one, which French passed to English as globule.
