A globetrotter is a person who spends a lot of time travelling from country to country, not a tourist on one short holiday. The picture in the word is someone trotting — moving with quick, light steps — around the globe. It often sounds , even a little old-fashioned and colourful, like a magazine word: a , a writer, a photographer with stamps all over their passport. You would not usually call a migrant worker a globetrotter; the word has a flavour of choice and adventure, not of having to leave home. Though actually, it can also be used with a smile, almost as a tease, for someone who is never in one place.
