A giveaway is something given to people for free, often to make them interested in a product — a shop might run a giveaway where customers can win a free prize. 'Giveaway' also means a sign or detail that reveals a secret or the truth without meaning to, like 'his nervous laugh was a dead giveaway that he was lying.'
