Get-up-and-go is energy plus the will to use it — the feeling that you stand up and actually do the thing. If someone has a lot of get-up-and-go, they do not wait around; they start. If they have lost their get-up-and-go, they may still know what to do, but the spark is gone. It is informal, a little old-fashioned and fond, the kind of thing a parent or a teacher might say about a person, not about a machine. Treat it as a noun: “She has plenty of get-up-and-go.” You do not turn it into a verb. Though actually it is just the everyday words get up and go, packed into one name for that kind of drive.
「get-up-and-go」是精力加上使用精力的意願，指站起來、真的去做事的那股感覺。如果一個人很有 get-up-and-go，他不會等待，而是馬上開始；如果失去了，他可能仍然知道該做什麼，只是那股火花已經不見了。常見的說法是「have plenty of get-up-and-go」（很有幹勁）。
