A geo-fence is not a real fence you can touch. It is a line you draw on a map with GPS. If a phone, a car, a pet tag, or a delivery bike goes into that area, or leaves it, a computer sends a warning. Parents use it to know when a child reaches school. Companies use it to watch vans. Shops sometimes use it to ping you a message when you walk near. The English word belongs to tech and logistics; ordinary speakers may still just say “GPS boundary” or “alert if they leave the area.” You can also use it as a verb: to geo-fence a place is to set that invisible line around it.
地理圍籬(台灣常聽到的「電子圍籬」是同一類概念,尤其指手機定位的範圍警示)
組成geo- (“earth / place”) + fence.
