    A gazillion is an extremely large number — so large that you are not really counting. It is informal and playful, like zillion. Nobody agrees what the number is; that is the point. Children and casual speakers use it to mean a huge lot: a gazillion messages, a gazillion stars. You would not use it in maths class or in a serious news report, except as a joke. It belongs with other made-up -illion words that copy million and billion.
