A gazebo is a small building in a garden, with a roof but open or mostly open sides, where you sit to look at the view, take tea, or get out of the sun. It usually stands on its own, not joined to the house. Parks and wedding gardens often have one. It is not a shed — a shed is closed in and meant for tools. Though actually, people stretch gazebo to cover many little garden shelters, some with screens or even glass, as long as the idea is sit and look out. The word sounds a little fancy; in everyday talk some people just say garden house or pavilion.

組成Possibly made in English from gaze (to look steadily) plus a Latin-style ending -bō, as in vidēbō (I will see) — a playful I-will-look. Another idea traces it to Arabic qaṣaba (a fort or casbah), later reshaped to look like the gaze story. Scholars do not agree, so both are only maybes.
