Gangly means the same as : unusually tall and thin, with long arms and legs, and not moving in a way. This is the form you will hear more in American English; it is an American change of shape from , not a new meaning. People often use it of young people who have just grown. It is informal and easy in everyday American speech, and it still paints that slightly awkward, long-limbed picture. If a jacket’s sleeves look too short, or someone unfolds themselves from a small car, gangly is the word that fits.
