    A gallstone is a small, hard lump that can form inside the gall bladder, the little bag near the liver that stores bile — the bitter liquid that helps you digest fat. If a stone blocks the way out, you get a sharp pain high on the right side of the belly, often after a fatty meal. Doctors may watch and wait, try to break or dissolve it, or take out the gall bladder. The gall here is bile, that bitter stuff in the body. In Chinese you already have a clean, everyday name for this; English is just naming the same stone.
