Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana, in the south-east of that country. Botswana sits inland in southern Africa, so Gaborone is not a sea city. Older English writing may still call it Gaberones — that was the name before they changed the spelling to match the place more closely. People often stress the third part: ga-bo-RO-neh, though you will hear a few other ways. Though actually, many English speakers only meet the name in a news headline and then mix it with Gabon, which is a whole country far away on the Atlantic.
