GA is the written short form of Georgia — in this use, the US state, not the country that sits between Europe and Asia. You see it on letters, maps, and forms: Atlanta, GA. In the United States every state has a two-letter code; Georgia's is GA, always in capital letters. You do not usually say the letters G-A in a full sentence when you mean the place; you say Georgia. Though actually, the same two letters can mean other things in other jobs (a General Assembly is one), so the address or the map is what tells you it is the state. The country called Georgia is a different place; its usual country code is GE, not GA. On a form that asks for a US state, GA is the right box.
