The G-spot is a place inside a woman's body, in the vagina (the passage of the sex organs), that some people say is especially sensitive, so touching it can feel very good during sex. The name is short for Gräfenberg spot, after a doctor called Ernst Gräfenberg. A popular science book in 1982 made the name famous, and after that magazines and everyday talk used it as if everyone knew exactly where it was. Though actually, doctors still do not all agree. Some say there is a clear spot; others say it is not a separate little organ at all, but a sensitive area that is different in different women, or that the feeling comes from several nearby parts working together, not one magic button. So it is a widely used name in informal talk about sex, and in magazines, but it is not a settled fact like the place of the heart. You will not hear it much in a formal biology class, except when someone is arguing about whether it is real.
