Fusion means joining two or more things together to make one new thing. In science, 'nuclear fusion' is when two small atoms join to make a bigger one, releasing huge amounts of energy — this is how the sun makes its light and heat. In cooking and music, 'fusion' means mixing two different styles together, like 'fusion food' that mixes, say, Japanese and Mexican cooking, or 'jazz fusion,' which mixes jazz with rock.
