    A frogman is a person whose job is to swim and work under water, wearing a suit and a tank of air so they can breathe. Navies, police, and rescue teams send frogmen to search, to fix things, or to do military work. The word is a little old-fashioned and you read it more in the news than you hear it on the street; in everyday speech people more often say . Though actually, frogman still turns up when the story is about navy or police work in the water. It is almost always a job word, not a word for someone swimming for fun. The picture behind it is a person moving in water the way a frog does.
