Frodo is a character in the book The Lord of the Rings, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, and in the films made from it. He is a hobbit: a small person-like being who lives in a hole in the ground in a quiet country called the Shire. The story follows him because he has to carry a dangerous magic ring a very long way. People use the name when they talk about the books or films. It is not a usual English first name in real life. If someone says Frodo with no other explanation, they almost always mean this character.
